Final Illustrator Logo

final_ill_logoHere is my final logo, as to those who commented, I greatly appreciate your feedback and I am glad to hear your opinions. I have followed some of the suggestions as I was thinking the same. To start this design, I simply placed a B in the middle and added bran photo under it. Then I began to work on the wings. Originally, I wanted the wings to be more bird-like. As I was working on them, I came to find that this wasn’t going to work out because the arc tool was not acting as I wanted it to. For some reason it would not let me color the inside of it which I thought was strange but I still made the wings work. I actually only created one wing, then copied and pasted it to create the wings on one side of the B. I then simply grouped them, copied, and pasted them. Of course then all I did was just mirror them and place them so that they were the exact same on each side. I then added a black diamond, a symbol of my fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, and I was done. To revise the logo and get it ready for finalization, I figured that some aspect of photography should be in this logo so what better than a camera? I replaced the black diamond that was on the B with a small camera. In addition to this change, I also took of Bran Photo from the bottom of the B. Then, I simply made it say “photo.” I believe this creates a cleaner logo that is easier to read and understand. Again, thank you for those who commented as this was a suggestion that confirmed my thoughts as well, and I believe it worked out very well with the font that I ended up picking. Also, I played around with the B a little, and after trying a few different color schemes with the wings, I decided that it would look better if I left the B white. However, I did change it so that the wings went right up to the black stroke of the B, instead of there being a small gap in between the two. After this, I was satisfied with the logo, I scaled it so that it would fit the whole artboard, and here it is now.

Logo Design Draft

logodraft

So here’s the draft of my design. For the design, I wanted to create a new logo for my photography. I wanted to create something that had to do with the letter B, to stand for my name, Brandon attached to a pair of wings, as my sketches show. I wanted to have a main logo, with lettering under it that said bran photo, as the main logo would pull in the attention and be recognizable. When I started playing around in illustrator I began to like the look of the simple B with wings on it. As for research, I simply used google and looked up random logos that came to mind. Some that played a role in helping me create mine, were the Mini Cooper logo, and the Bentley logo. I feel that my logo looks okay, but it does not look very professional and after looking at some more Illustrator Tutorials I think I can make it look much more professional for the final draft. I did have trouble creating the wings and I am still not very happy with how they came out. I couldn’t figure out how the Arc tool could be used in the way I wanted it to be used. but I made it work by using the line tool to create the wings. Besides the line tool, there isn’t much to this design besides the text tool for the B as well as the bran photo. The diamond was created by using the rectangle tool. I created the rectangle, turned it sideways, and then pulled the opposite ends farther to create a rectangle. After that, I colored it black, colored the wings a light blue color, and I felt it looked pretty good. After looking at it more and more I see things that I can change and work on to make it look much better.

Graphic Design Final

So to start off this project with my original design, I began by using my own photograph of Seattle as the background. To follow this I used a picture of my eye, I then made that picture black and white to go with the dark background. After that, I used the art history brush to blend the eye in a little more, then I applied a gradient filter to blend it in just a little bit more. To get a little creepy I colored the eye black, leaving a small speck of light to create a more realistic effect. Then I place a picture of myself and then turned that black and white as well. Then I blended in the sides and part of the face because the idea is not for it to be a picture of myself, but to be a symbol of a stranger. Then I put the text “Keep an Eye Open” to create the theme that someone could be watching you. Then I applied red lines going from the eye to the text and various other points for a simple effect that just looked cool. Then I applied my photography logo to the bottom of the background. To revise, I used the same technique as for to place two pictures of my eye instead of one to put the eyes above the city. I then took out the picture of myself on the side after receiving feedback from my peers. I also changed the text to say “Keep Your Eyes Open.” For the most part I felt that the draft design was pretty good as I the people who gave me feedback seemed to really like it. With that being said, there wasn’t really much I wanted to change. But I feel the final design looks much better overall and much cleaner. keep-an-eye-openFINAL.jpg
