So here’s the draft of my design. For the design, I wanted to create a new logo for my photography. I wanted to create something that had to do with the letter B, to stand for my name, Brandon attached to a pair of wings, as my sketches show. I wanted to have a main logo, with lettering under it that said bran photo, as the main logo would pull in the attention and be recognizable. When I started playing around in illustrator I began to like the look of the simple B with wings on it. As for research, I simply used google and looked up random logos that came to mind. Some that played a role in helping me create mine, were the Mini Cooper logo, and the Bentley logo. I feel that my logo looks okay, but it does not look very professional and after looking at some more Illustrator Tutorials I think I can make it look much more professional for the final draft. I did have trouble creating the wings and I am still not very happy with how they came out. I couldn’t figure out how the Arc tool could be used in the way I wanted it to be used. but I made it work by using the line tool to create the wings. Besides the line tool, there isn’t much to this design besides the text tool for the B as well as the bran photo. The diamond was created by using the rectangle tool. I created the rectangle, turned it sideways, and then pulled the opposite ends farther to create a rectangle. After that, I colored it black, colored the wings a light blue color, and I felt it looked pretty good. After looking at it more and more I see things that I can change and work on to make it look much better.

I like how clean cut the logo is that you created and how it has very neat colors. I also like how you drew inspiration and looked up different logos out there to see what design you were thinking of doing. One of the suggestions I have though is to make the writing under the B more eligible. It is sort of tough to read what its says at the bottom, so either make the font bigger or change the font style to make it eligible. I also think it would be cool to incorporate some sort of photography linked graphic on your design. An idea could maybe put a camera or lens on the B instead of the diamond. I do like the suddenness’ of the black outline is around the wings. It makes the shape of the wings jump out more and show the details of the wings.

I really enjoy this logo! It is very light hearted and the blue color gives it a fun, creative vibe which is good since this is for your photography. I personally like how you designed the wings, but my first thought was definitely “dragonfly” not the bird wings you appeared to have wanted based off your logo sketches.
A few things you may want to consider is that the logo is a bit busy with the difficult to read cursive text at the bottom, the black diamond on the top left side, and the wings and letter ‘B’. The diamond seems almost unnecessary and the design could probably work just fine, if not better, without it or if you incorporated it in a different way.
Another idea is that you might not need to actually say “Bran Photo”. A comment on my logo pointed out that when you have a symbol representing your text already, it becomes kind of redundant to have both. You could just have the ‘B’ and then have it say “Photo” underneath it. This might help simplify the logo.
I still feel that this is a very unique logo with a ton of potential and you have many fun and creative ideas going on here.

After receiving feedback from a few of my peers, as well as thoughts of my own, there are a few things I will be trying to change with my logo. One of these ideas is to move the text of Bran Photo. I want to put it somewhere else on the logo, possibly in the diamond. If I put the text into the diamond, then I will need to scale the diamond just slightly bigger so that it doesn’t look too small. I also might think about changing the text to simply say “Photo.” Either way, I want to play around with the logo much more in Illustrator to see how I can make it better to be an actual logo. I want to be able to picture this on a shirt, to a business card, stickers, anything. I feel I have a strong base of a logo but I can make it look much better by putting it some more work. I also want to incorporate a camera to this logo as I feel it should because of my stress on photography.

Your logo draft is off to a great start! I like how clean this logo is and I think others who commented before agree. The concept behind your design is really cool and I like how it actually serves a purpose. I think the colors in this design work really well. My favorite part about your design are the wings and diamond because it makes it your own unique design rather than just an average “B” with words under it. One of the most important parts about a logo for a company is to have a logo that will stand out when its seen. My first suggestion for your final draft would be to maybe get rid of some of the white space around your logo and make it a square logo. My second suggestion is to change the text so it is easier to read from a distance because people don’t want to look hard at text to try and see what it says.

Hey Brandon, first off I would like to say your draft of your logo design is incredibly good. It seems like you’ve mastered simple techniques to adobe illustrator making a great start to your process of completing your logo final. Few things I would critique about your logo is maybe adding more color to the letter “B” so your design looks more complex and adds a little flavor to your overall logo. Second, I would suggest placing a title of creating a banner to introduce your topic or give viewers a hint of what your advertising with your logo, but overall great job. I really liked the wings that you added to your logo and I think it’s a unique contrast for what your doing with your design. I think your design has the potential to be one of the best in the class so keep it up and get the grade you deserve.
